I am offering dressmaking and pattern cutting classes in small groups, In the fantastic facility of Woolston Community Center, in Southampton. (I no longer teach  at Eastleigh College). For upcoming courses see below.

Dressmaking intermediate

6 week course - dressmaking intermediate.

21.1.-27.3. Wednesdays 6.16-8.45 pm

at Woolston Community centre

 

This course is suitable for those who have mastered core skills and made an item of clothing following a patter.

Our learning will focus on skills and understanding of processes necessary for making  tops, skirts and dresses.

We will cover Sleeves, collars as well as designing skirts without patterns, adapting existing patterns and mastering the detail.

You will need your own sewing machine and sewing kit as well as materials for your chosen project. List will be provided for those who book.

Till December 2022 I was teaching in Eastleigh College main campus on several of their courses that I have designed and run for numerous years. Prior to that, I taught in Fareham College. In both these locations I provided adult evening classes as well as Level 3 courses.  

Dressmaking Skills For Sustainability

4 week course - dressmaking for sustainability  in January 2024.

 

These lessons will focus on working with your existing garments and giving them new look or fit through Up-cycling and altering them in various ways. This will prolong their life, give life to unused garments and give new life to those that lost their spark. 

 

Suitable for all of those who can use their sewing machine confidently and have basic dressmaking skills already. 

You will bring selection of your garments, together, we will identify the problem or need for transformation and I will guide you trough it. you will learn a range of techniques and alterations approaches to fit issues.

Dressmaking 2 (progressing beginner)

5 week dressmaking course  in November/December 2023.

 

Suitable for all of those who have some basic dressmaking skills already, such as progressing beginners.

You will choose a dressmaking projects/pattern suitable for your level and confidence and work through it whilst learning new skills and techniques. The skill that you will learn will be concentrated around the projects students choose to work on.

Dressmaking Core skills 

4 week dressmaking course  in September 2023.

 

Suitable for complete begginers who wish to enter the realm of dressmaking and taste all the key essential skills.
